We’re delighted to welcome athletes, coaches, clubs and supporters to the Scottish Open Poomsae Championships 2026.Join us in the heart of Scotland for a fantastic day of Poomsae competition, bringing the Taekwondo community together from across Scotland, the UK and Internationally.

ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Scottish Open Poomsae Championships 2026 brings athletes together for a full day of competitive Poomsae in Grangemouth.The competition will adopt a World Taekwondo (WT) model in both format and official rules, with divisions designed to give athletes from novice through to experienced competitors the opportunity to compete at their level.
🥋 WHO CAN ENTER?
Athletes must be members of a national federation affiliated to World Taekwondo (WT).Proof of a valid licence, insurance and grade will be required at registration.The championships include Dan, K1, K2, K3, Para and Family Poomsae divisions, with Individual, Pair and Team categories available across the relevant divisions

YOUR COMPETITION DAY
Here’s what to expect on Sunday, from registration and the coaches’ meeting through to the final competition sessions and award ceremony.
RUN OF THE DAY
📝 7:30am–8:15am — RegistrationCompetitor registration takes place before the start of competition.⚖️ 8:00am–8:30am — Judges & Officials BriefingJudges and officials should attend the scheduled pre-competition briefing.🥋 8:35am–8:45am — Coaches’ MeetingCoaches should attend the meeting ahead of the start of competition.🏆 9:00am–1:30pm — CompetitionThe first competition session gets underway at 9:00am.🍴 1:30pm–2:00pm — Lunch BreakCompetition pauses for the scheduled lunch break.🏆 2:00pm–7:30pm — CompetitionCompetition resumes for the afternoon and evening session.🏅 7:30pm–7:45pm — Award CeremonyThe event concludes with the scheduled award ceremony.

COMPETITION CATEGORIES
The Scottish Open Poomsae Championships offers divisions across a wide range of ages, grades and abilities, giving athletes from novice through to experienced competitors the opportunity to compete.
🥋 DAN / POOM — CLASS A
For competitors holding 1st Dan / Poom and higher.Individual age divisions:• U11 — 9–11 years
• U14 — 12–14 years
• U17 — 15–17 years
• U30 — 18–30 years
• U40 — 31–40 years
• U50 — 41–50 years
• U60 — 51–60 years
• U65 — 61–65 years
• U70 — 66–70 years
• U71+ — 71 years and over
Pair and Team divisions are also available across the relevant age categories.

Age divisions:• U7 — 6 years and under
• U9 — 8 years and under

• 2nd Senior — 36+ yearsIndividual, Pair and Team categories are available.Kup divisions may be combined where there are fewer than three competitors in a division.
👨👩👧👦 FAMILY POOMSAE
Family Poomsae gives different generations of the same family the opportunity to compete together.At least two generations must take part, for example:• Parent and child
• Grandparent and grandchild
• Parents with their children
• Grandparents, parents and grandchildrenThere is no age limit.Family categories are available for:• Dan families
• Kup families
• Mixed Dan & Kup familiesOne participation per family is permitted and Family Poomsae goes directly to the final round.
♿ PARA POOMSAE
Para Poomsae categories are available for:• P10 — Visual Impairments
• P20 — Intellectual Impairments
• P30 — Physical Impairments
• P40 — Limb Deficiency
• P50 — Wheelchair Classes
• P60 — Deaf
• P70 — Short StatureCategories are divided by Male/Female and Kup/Dan grades, with U17 and 18+ age divisions.Para competitors should select the Para category when registering online and provide the event management with the additional information requested in the entry pack

The Scottish Open Poomsae Championships 2026 will take place at Grangemouth Sports Complex, in the heart of Scotland’s central belt.

🚆 BY TRAIN
The nearest railway station is Falkirk Grahamston, with regular services from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling.Local buses connect Falkirk town centre with Grangemouth.
🚌 BY BUS
Midland Bluebird services 2, 3 and 4 serve Grangemouth.Services 3 and 4 operate between Falkirk town centre and Grangemouth, making them useful for visitors travelling via Falkirk Grahamston railway station.
♿ ACCESSIBILITY
Grangemouth Sports Complex is wheelchair accessible, with disabled parking next to the main building, a level main entrance, power-assisted doors, disabled toilets and a Changing Places facility.

Before completing your entry, please make sure you meet the competition eligibility requirements.All COMPETITORS:• Must be members of a national federation affiliated to World Taekwondo (WT).• Must be able to provide proof of a valid licence, insurance and grade at registration.• Athletes and clubs must have their own insurance in place.• Should check that they are entering the correct grade, age and competition division.
🌍 INTERNATIONAL COMPETITORS
If travelling to Scotland from overseas, competitors and team officials are strongly advised to ensure they have appropriate travel and medical insurance in place for their trip, including cover for medical treatment and emergency repatriation where appropriate.Please bring relevant insurance and policy information with you in case it is required during your stay.

IMPORTANT
Any changes to entries made on the day of competition will incur a £30 administration fee per change.
If the competition cannot take place due to unforeseen circumstances outside the organiser’s control, payments will remain valid for the organiser’s next physical Taekwondo event.

👟 Spectators are requested to wear suitable footwear for the sports hall.High heels are not permitted.
PHOTOGRAPHY & VIDEO
Photography and filming will take place during the event.By registering to compete, competitors agree that their image may be captured within the venue by press and members of the public, and may appear in video, television and online coverage.
